Medico-legal assessment

Wise Consulting conducts extensive assessments and delivers detailed reports for medico-legal professionals seeking to comprehend the nature, requirements and full impact of an injury on a person’s life, work, family and leisure.

We also offer qualified expert witness testimony.

Wise Consulting can assist you in the management of your claims and matters through comprehensive assessment of clients’ past, current and future care, equipment and home modification needs.

In making recommendations, Wise Consulting first strives to achieve independence for clients, through pacing, task modification and the use of adaptive equipment.

  • a decision-maker under the 1999 Motor Accidents Compensation Act
  • a review panel member under the 1999 Motor Accidents Compensation Act
  • a decision-maker under the 2017 Motor Accidents Injury Act

Occupational therapy driving assessment

Wise Consulting provides comprehensive assessment of clients with a range of medical conditions or disabilities, including:

Wise Consulting offers practical and achievable recommendations with the aim of improving independence.

We assist the client through every step of the process, including addressing concerns about the assessment, booking appointments and implementing recommendations.

Wise Consulting does this assessment from the client’s home, which offers a more relaxed assessment for the client and a rehabilitation program within their own community.

Our vehicles are fully fitted with the modifications necessary to determine the best solution for the client, including:
  • Steering devices (where two-handed control is not achievable) e.g., spinner knobs, tri-spins, U-fork, spinners with electronic indicators.
  • Hand controls (for clients with limited leg function).
  • Left-foot accelerator (for clients with limited right leg function).
  • Adaptive mirrors (for clients with limited neck movement or visual deficits).
  • Space Drive and other electromechanical modifications, for clients with very limited function in all four limbs.


All vehicles are fitted with dual controls, ensuring that clients and assessors are safe at all times.

Referrals to Wise Consulting can be made by anyone, including client, family, carer, hospital staff, GP, specialist, insurer, rehabilitation provider, employer, or the RMS.

A fee is charged for the assessment. Discounts are available for pensioners.

Severe injury case management

Wise Consulting delivers effective assessment and case management that seeks to achieve early identification of a claimant’s medical, rehabilitation and other needs, and the reasonable, sufficient and timely provision of those services to assist the person to improve function and independence.

Jenny is an accredited case manager with iCare’s Lifetime Care and Support.

Wise Consulting can assist you by preparing a support needs assessment report for you.

Wise Consulting also conducts assessments to help you with driving, vehicle modifications, home modifications, and equipment prescription.

About us

Wise Consulting was, in 2000, established in Sydney, Australia, by Jenny Wise, and has become one of the most respected Occupational Therapy consultancies in NSW and beyond.

Jenny Wise graduated from The University of Sydney in 1995, with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy. She trained as a Driver Trained Occupational Therapist in 1998, and then undertook further training to assess drivers of heavy vehicles and plant machinery.

Jenny went on to teach the Occupational Therapy Driver Training Course in 2010 and 2011.

In 2014, Jenny completed a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment, which solidified her 19 years of experience assisting workers return to work in a variety of industries.

  • was an expert advisor for ‘Fitness to Drive Project’, wtih Brunel University, London, and La Trobe University, Melbourne, in 2013.
  • was a guest speaker at the OT Australia NSW Bariatric Conference in Sydney in May 2015.
  • had a poster accepted for the OT Australia National Conference in Melbourne in July 2015.
  • is an active member of the OT Australia NSW Driving Special Interest Group, and is currently the chairperson of the group.
  • chaired the OT Association’s Driving Into the Future forum in Sydney in November 2016.
  • is a member of the Medical Assessor Practice Group for the NSW Motor Accident Authority Medical Assessment Service.
  • co-authored “The Road Ahead: A Guide to Occupational Therapy Driving Assessments”, which was published by Occupational Therapy Australia in 2018.
  • was interviewed on ABC Drive, on 19 January 2019.
  • has a Diploma of Biblical Studies from Moore Theological College.
